Special Purpose Bequest

I give and bequeath to the METROPOLITAN OPERA ASSOCIATION, INC., a New York not-for-profit corporation whose address is 30 Lincoln Center, New York, New York 10023 (“The Metropolitan Opera”), the sum of $_______ [or _____% of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate] to be used for the purpose of _______.

If the Metropolitan Opera reasonably determines that literal compliance with this purpose is impracticable or impossible, then the Metropolitan Opera may use this bequest for its general corporate purposes, giving particular consideration to my special interest as described above.

Sample will clauses are guidelines for your attorney when including a bequest to the Metropolitan Opera in your will or other estate planning documents. However, you or your attorney should always contact the Met's Planned Giving office to be certain you have the correct, most up-to-date language.
