The composer's longstanding affinity for Shakespeare is explored in Noble's powerful new production of this gripping work, which returns for the final three performances of the season. The ferocious couple is portrayed by baritone Carlos Alvarez in the towering title role and soprano Hasmik Papian as his ruthless wife. René Pape sings Banquo, Joseph Calleja is Macduff, and James Levine conducts.
