Iphigénie en Tauride
Approximate running time 2 hrs. 30 min.
Gluck found inspiration in the stylistic purity and elemental passions of Greek drama, as beautifully reflected in the elegant and emotional music of his final operatic masterwork. The luminous voice and stage presence of Susan Graham have won the mezzo-soprano international acclaim as the title character, while Plácido Domingo adds the role of her brother Oreste to his astounding repertory. Celebrated French conductor Louis Langrée makes his Met debut, and Stephen Wadsworth (Rodelinda) directs the first performances of this opera at the Met since 1917.
Iphigénie en Tauride is a co-production with Seattle Opera.
