Position Summary
Seen in more than 1,900 movie theaters in 60 countries throughout the world, The Met: Live in HD is a groundbreaking initiative developed to deliver live opera performance to opera lovers all over the world.
The Senior Manager for Live in HD Press and Marketing is a newly created position responsible for taking marketing and public relations efforts for Live in HD to the next level. The ideal candidate will be a poised, resourceful, innovative thinker capable of conceiving, developing, and implementing bold new ideas. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, and a passion for the mission of The Met: Live in HD.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with marketing and press teams to plan and implement marketing and press campaigns and activities
- Develop and oversee strategies to enhance the public image of the Live in HD program
- Participate in developing press ideas and pitches
- Act as communications liaison to various HD stakeholders (internal staff, external publicists, partners, etc.) to ensure consistent quality of communication and information sharing
- Regularly interact and strategize with top levels of management
- Develop content for website, email, and social media outreach; oversee Live in HD web presence
- Leverage Met editorial content for HD press and marketing purposes
- Work with Communications and Marketing Directors to develop concepts and create HD movie-theater trailers
- Work with marketing team to manage HD collateral materials (posters, postcards, cast sheets, etc.)
- Develop and manage HD promotion and grassroots outreach initiatives around the country
- Regularly monitor artist travel schedules to identify international press opportunities
- Manage marketing budget and marketing and press calendar for all efforts
Along with the HD Distribution Senior Associate, coordinate and develop partner communication and solicit feedback
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- At least 5 years progressive experience in marketing, promotions, and/or public relations
- Excellent project management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with a range of people both in person and by writing/phone
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once
- Ability to work well under pressure and on tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Interest in the performing arts; knowledge of opera a plus, but not required
- Ability to work well in a team environment as well as an individual
- Positive attitude, ambition, creativity, and resourcefulness are necessary to succeed in this position
- Must be able to work on all HD transmission Saturdays
- Availability to work nights and other weekends as necessary
