Ask The Diva

Question: Hello Diva, My wife and I are new to opera. I would like to take her to an opera on or around 6/25/09 for our 4th year wedding anniversary. Do you know if there are any upcoming productions around those days? Thank you. Danny

Diva: Assuming you are in NYC, neither the Met nor the New York City Opera are performing in their respective theaters. NYCO is offering a one-hour version of "The Magic Flute" at 7 PM on the 25th June, in Rockefeller Park (see nycopera.com/calendar/view.aspx?id=11246). Carnegie Hall offers a recital by students of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music in Weill Hall, beginning at 7 PM. "Swan Lake" by American Ballet Theater is in the Metropolitan Opera House, and the New York Philharmonic offers Mahler's Symphony of a Thousand, with 300 voices onstage, conducted by Lorin Maazel.
