Question: Dear Diva,
My wife and I are planning on attending an upcoming performance but we have a small wager (who is paying for dinner) that needs to be settled first. I say that there is no "sound system" used by the performers and she says that there has to be one for such a large opera house.
Diva: Opera singers are trained to project their voice out to the audience, and in most cases do not require sound enhancement. (Neither did Broadway singers until quite recently -- remember Merman and Martin?) The Met does not mic singers.
