Operas are built on successful stories, and what better source of inspiration than history? Throughout the ages, composers and librettists have drawn on real-life subjects and stories to spin their craft—and Giuseppe Verdi was no exception. Many of his operas are inspired by historical incidents, but at what point does historical fact become fiction in these hit works?
