Urban Voices: A Choral Music Initiative

Urban Voices: A Choral Music Initiative introduces choral music singing to students of all ages. At least one day a week, a Guild-trained Choral Artist partners with classroom or music teachers to reinforce the core classroom curriculum and introduce a healthy vocal sound and proper singing technique, including good use of breath, diction, and vocal placement. This team teaching model includes regular collaboration, discussion, and planning to provide a seamless approach to integrated learning.

Students are introduced to a variety of repertoire from different cultures, genres, and time periods, and learn to listen to themselves and others, articulate and comprehend lyrics, and become familiar with basic musical notation.
